  1. No food or drink is allowed

·        No food or drink of any kind is allowed in the computer lab. All food and drink must be consumed before entering a computer lab, or it must be thrown away.

 

  1. Maintain a quiet atmosphere

·        Any noise created in the labs must remain below acceptable levels. This is entirely at the discretion of the Lab Assistant or other IT personnel and is not available for debate or appeal.

 

  1. Clean-up surrounding area

·        Before you leave the computer lab, you must clean up any mess you have made. This includes pushing in the chair(s), removing any floppy disks/CDs from the computer, removing any paper or other trash, and disposing of un-wanted printouts appropriately.

 

  1. Furniture or equipment may not be removed from the CTC.

 

  1. Behavior which would damage equipment or the community center’s property is not permitted.

 

  1. Books, documentation and / or resource materials are not to be removed from the CTC.

 

  1. Installation of illegal and /or licensed software is not permitted.

 

  1. Transmission of any material in violation of any United States or other organizations regulations is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material threatening or obscene material, or material protected by trade secret.

 

  1. Network Etiquette and Privacy.  You are expected to abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette. These rules include (but are not limited to) the following:
    1. BE POLITE. Never send, or encourage others to send, abusive messages.
    2. USE APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE. Remember that your are a representative of our Center on a non-¬private system. You may be alone with your computer, but what you say and do can be viewed globally! Never swear, use vulgarities, or any other inappropriate language. Illegal activities of any kind are strictly forbidden.
    3. PRIVACY. Do not reveal your home address or personal phone number or the address and phone numbers of students or colleagues.
    4. DISRUPTIONS. Do not use the network in any way that would disrupt use of the network by others.
    5. NO Chat Rooms.

 

  1. Security. Security on any computer system is a high priority because there are so many users. If you identify a security problem, notify the staff at once. Never demonstrate the problem to other users. Never use another individual’s account without written permission from that person. Any user identified as a security risk will be denied access to the Community Technology Center.

 

  1. Vandalism.  Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm equipment or destroy data of another user or any other agencies or networks that are connected to the system. This includes, but is not limited to, misuse of computer hardware and the uploading or creation of computer viruses. Any vandalism will result in the loss of computer services and legal referral.

 

  1. 3 ˝ Floppy Disks will be provided by the CTC for saving your documents.  These will be kept at the center in your personal file.  No disks, CD, or other recordable media are to be brought in from home and used on the computers.
